How to identify Nayuruvi

Leaves: Simple, opposite, elliptic to ovate, often wavy margins, hairy on both surfaces, 3-10 cm long.

Stem: Erect or spreading, quadrangular, branched, often purplish or reddish, with swollen nodes. Young stems are hairy.

Fruit/Flower: Small, hard, spiny, dry, indehiscent utricle (burr) with a single seed. Clings easily to clothing and animal fur for dispersal.
