SIDDHA

Food is Medicine
The core philosophy states that proper food acts as the primary medicine to maintain health and prevent illness. Meals must incorporate specific healing spices and herbs like pepper, turmeric, cumin, and dry ginger to neutralize internal humors

Eat Only When Hungry
Food should only be consumed when the previous meal is completely digested and natural hunger (pasi) arises.Eating out of emotion, habit, or social pressure without active digestive fire leads to the accumulation of toxins (amla/toxins).

Avoid Incompatible and Stale Foods
Never consume food prepared the previous day (stale or cold foods that induce sluggishness). Avoid wrong food combinations that create metabolic conflict in the gut, such as mixing certain dairy products with sour fruits or fish.

Inclusion of the Six Tastes
Every main meal should ideally balance the six tastes—sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent (Aarusuvai). This holistic proportion ensures complete tissue nourishment and stabilizes the vital body humors: Vatham, Pitham, and Kapham.
